College Football Betting: Week 1 Roundup

Another college football season is just around the corner, and as the heat of the summer fades and the MLB season comes to a close, the countdown to a new NCAA football season continues. From a betting perspective, odds for Bowl contention show the University of South Carolina (USC) as favorite to win the 2013 BCS Championship game with +280 odds.  LSU comes in second place to win the national championship with +350 odds, followed by Alabama at +450.

Now, let’s talk about the real action. The NCAA football season officially kicks off next August 30^th at 7:00 pm ET. Some of the highlights include South Carolina vs. Vanderbilt, Texas A&M vs. Louisiana Tech, and Washington State vs. BYU.  The action resumes on August 31^st with an exciting schedule featuring a total of 15 games, including Notre Dame vs. Navy, Marshall vs. West Virginia and Ohio vs. Penn State.

The SEC will look to get its seven-straight BCS championship title in 2013, with most of the action set to kick off the first weekend of September. Probably the biggest game of the opening week pits Alabama against the Michigan Wolverines. The game is scheduled for an 8 p.m. EST start time and it will be televised nationally on ABC. Betting odds have the defending national champion Alabama Crimson as heavy 12-point favorite to win this game.
