Panthers' Center Ryan Kalil Predicts Super Bowl Victory

As the annual NFL Season gets nearer, expectation and excitement begins rising dramatically among bettors, fans and football players.  It is comprehensible, teams and players have the right to express their optimism and Super Bowl aspirations, but this week, Carolina Panthers’ center and three-time Pro Bowler, Ryan Kalil has taken things to a new level.  He's guaranteeing fans a Super Bowl Title.

The prediction, which shocked the football world this Wednesday, shows Kalil has some really big “cojones”. Players must trust their team mates and show some sort of confidence and determination.  Every player should go into the season with winning the Super Bowl as their ultimate goal. After all, if you don’t believe that your team is capable of winning, then you shouldn’t be part of it.

But guaranteeing fans a Super Bowl title can bounce right back on your face.

The best part is that Kalil already invested some money supporting his claim. Just yesterday, Kalil took out a full page advertisement in the Charlotte Observer.

As it turned out, Kalil received support from his teammates, as well as Coach Ron Rivera. Now, there’s nothing wrong with being optimistic. We are all free to express our opinion, but that does not mean you can go on confusing excitement with foolishness. Instead of taking the risk of being mocked and ridiculed, Kalil and the rest of the team should focus on a less pretentious goal, such as improving a mediocre 6-10 record and winning the first playoff game since 2005.

While no one seems to be taking his promises seriously, winning the Super Bowl after making such a risky prediction would be an historic achievement, and highly profitable for sports gamblers (Future odds on NFL show Carolina listed as +4000 to win the Super Bowl XLVII). I personally don’t see the Panthers winning this year’s title, but taking in consideration this is the NFL, I have to admit that everything is possible.
