It was supposed to be the ultimate blockbuster trade for the LA Dodgers, one that would help them refocus, reenergize, and re-conquer the National League. But so far, the Dodgers have gotten off to a rocky start.
Dodgers management are hoping that the new team squad—featuring 9 players acquired from Boston in a trade on Saturday—can help them get to the post season. But that might be easier said than done, given LA’s pretty much record-setting loss Monday night.
Josh Beckett made his debut last night in Dodgers blue against the Rockies, but things didn’t go as planned. The Dodgers fell 10-0 to the Rockies—one of their worst losses of the 2012 MLB season—and they’re now 2 ½ games back of their NL West rivals, the San Francisco Giants.
They’re also 2 ½ games back of the wild card spot, with Atlanta and St. Louis standing between them and postseason play (not to mention big profits for sports bettors who are counting on seeing the Dodgers listed in world series odds at online sportsbooks.
