Paynter’s Out, But Solid Horserace Betting Lines Are Still In

PaynterIt looks like the Grade 1 Travers Stakes on August 25th won’t include dropping money on Paynter to win. Nor will he be part of any Trifecta, Superfecta, or any other type of horse wager.

Following his 3 ¾-length victory on July 29th in the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational, Paynter spiked a fever. And this was no mild fever. He was sick enough to be sent to the Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center in New Jersey.

Paynter started the year as an unraced maiden, but he’s quickly made huge strides. He finished fourth in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby, and then 2nd in the Grade 3 Derby Trial.

At Pimlico on May 19th, he netted a first place finish, and he scored a 2nd place finished at the Belmont Stakes – Gr. 1 race on June 9th, just behind Union Rags.

But still, even with all these successes, Payntor was seen as a horse with great potential, but not a whole lot more—specifically by diehard sports bettors. After all, Payner’s biggest win was in an allowance race at Pimlico, which is not really anything worth bragging about.

But that all changed last Sunday. After dominating the Haskel, those who love to bet on horses have definitely looked forward to dropping money on Paynter to take the Travers Stakes.

In fact, the horse has garnered a huge amount of attention on Twitter and in online horse race betting forums, practically eclipsing the size of the spotlight placed on I’ll Have Another just a few months ago.
